The only thing better than the beautiful Oregon coast is a
craft brewery right on the beach. Top it off with an RV park right across the
street and we are there. We were only
driving through Pacific City because it is off of the traditional Hwy 101 path
up the coast and we had never been there.
We stopped at the Pelican Pub & Brewery for lunch and were so impressed with the brews and views, we grabbed a spot at the RV park across the street that was also quite nice and ended up staying 2 days.
Day 2 here we found a little local lake protected from the
breezes and dropped in the kayaks for a paddle. At the boat ramp a school of
small fish was churning trying to avoid pursuit by bigger fish. Denis quickly
rigged up a pole to fish from his kayak, but evidently the big fish were having
luck feeding on the little fish because they had no interest in Denis’
offerings. Picture Denis sitting in his kayak amidst waters churning with fish
activity and not getting a bite….chuckles coming from my direction. He was a
bit too focused on his fishing frustrations when exiting his kayak. I had to go
catch his free-floating boat.
