June 23rd marked an exciting new chapter for
Denis, Fu and I. We went from solidifying our settlement in Dayton, Ohio to
Holy Crow, what do we do now when the company that just bought Denis’ company
laid him off. No fault to Denis, they just wanted to bring in their own people.
Generously, Denis gets 10 months of severance from a job he only worked 7
months. The deal also includes a 10-month non-compete which basically is a
repeat back to when we lived in Hong Kong and Denis was “put in the garden” by
his employer there. Back then we hit the runway to an extended Thai beach
vacation. This time it’s ROAD TRIP BABY!
In the last 10 days we’ve re-mapped our lives, upgraded to
Scoop our 2013 Jayco Jay Feather Ultra Lite travel trailer and plotted a loose
map of where we want to travel for the summer. Today we hit the road with our
granddaughter, Charley (AKA Tweedle), the goal. After the third stop for gas, we realized we
were not going to make it in one day with Scoop. Scoop weighs heavy on Molly our
Tundra pick-up forcing her to need more fuel stops than Denis does pee stops.
We will have to work to get them on the same schedule.
Thanks to our new Good Sam Club directory for RV campgrounds
we found Stoney Creek in Osseo, Wisconsin.
Denis was thrilled we got a pull-through site! Very nice place, I highly
recommend to those travelling with their home. As we traveled from Ohio to
Wisconsin through America’s heartland almost every community had a heavy
equipment company displaying our flag from their highest crane. Family’s were
gathered around the BBQ or playing games in the yard. What a great way to start
off our adventure made possible by the freedoms we are afforded in America.
